Fall 2008 Robert R. Chapman Fund Grant Awards
Four local nonprofit organizations have been awarded grants from the Robert R. Chapman Fund totaling $6,400. Funding priority is given to organizations that promote and/or help provide international and cultural learning experiences for youth. The committee reviewed 10 grant requests totaling $30,900.
Fall 2008 Grant Awards
Mid-Hudson Children's Museum $2,000 Support for the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum's Folk Arts Series which celebrates cultural diversity and introduces children and their families to the arts, customs and traditions of people from other countries. Mill Street Loft, Inc. $2,000 Support for fifteen art students and two teachers from the Art Institute of Mill Street Loft to travel to Mexico where they will work with teaching artists, local Mexican art students, and visiting local artists to discover the arts, culture and people of Mexico. Ulster BOCES $1,400 Students in the Expanded Horizons Program will attend a session with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) at the United Nations' Department of Economic and Social Affairs to experience first-hand the role of NGOs in advancing global awareness and initiatives. Stissing Mountain High School $1,000 Support for the China Exchange Program. Grant will be used to defray expenses for students from Pine Plains to travel to China
