Fall 2007 Community Response Grant Awards
Through the Community Response Grants program, the Community Foundation is able to respond to community needs not only today but forever. The Community Response Grants Committee reviewed forty-nine grant requests totaling $127,525. The current focus of these grants is to build the capacity of organizations and the community by providing funding for projects that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of nonprofits. Fifteen grants totaling $29,899 were awarded fall. Fall 2007 Awards Catharine Street Community Center $1,500
Funds to purchase a multimedia projector and wall screen for use in staff and board training and for educational projects in the After School program and other Center programming. CENTER for Performing Arts at Rhinebeck $1,500 Support of the re-design and purchase of a new Web site with integrated online ticketing and donor contribution system. The Children’s Annex $1,500 Support for the hiring of a consultant to work with the organization in Relationship Development Intervention which will help the staff to better meet the needs of the children and their families by enhancing the ability of the students to function more positively in their homes and in their communities. Children's Media Project $1,500 Support for and the design and implementation of a new, interactive Web site which will increase CMP’s ability to provide youth with cutting-edge media education. Dutchess County Association for Senior Citizens $2,000 To purchase program furniture and equipment for the Daybreak Adult Daycare program. Dutchess County SPCA $1,500 To purchase a laptop, projector and accessories to be used for both educational programs and fundraising presentations. Dutchess Land Conservancy, Inc. $1,599 Purchase of a laser printer that will allow the office to work more efficiently. Dutchess Outreach, Inc. $3,000 Funds to replace a walk in freezer unit that allows the Lunch Box program to feed the hungry, assist shelters and after school programs and carry on a meal delivery program. Hospice, Inc. $1,500 Partial support for the purchase and installation of a new phone system for the organization. Hudson River Housing, Inc. $3,000 To support the River Haven Program’s growth, to include the purchase of two computers, replacement mattresses, two living room couches and education/therapeutic books. Mediation Center of Dutchess County, Inc. $2,000 Support for a strategic planning process for the organization. Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum $1,500 Funds to upgrade office software and purchase a server to ensure adequate and safe data storage. North East Community Center $2,000 Funds to offer transportation services for isolated residents who do not qualify for NECC’s Care Car program. Rebuilding Together in Dutchess County $2,800 Support for hiring a consultant to assist the Board and organization in changing from a single program, annual event organization to one with a broader array of services. REHAB Programs, Inc. $3,000 To purchase the Lite Gate Partial Weight Bearing Trainer. Use of this equipment in physical therapy programs will significantly improve or restore locomotor function in clients served.
