The Jennifer Coudrey Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to young women in the Hudson Valley who share Jen’s positive attitude, desire to help others and determination to work hard pursuing a career in physical therapy. Scholarships will be awarded to individuals who will be full time students at any accredited college or university in the United States. The scholarship is not renewable.
Established by the Red Hook Town Conservation Advisory Council in honor of Ruth Oja, this scholarship is available to college bound graduating high school seniors or the home-schooled equivalent who are residents of Red Hook, NY, pursuing studies in environmental science or a related discipline.
For the second year the Ulster County Community Foundation awarded grants to UlsterCounty nonprofits. More than thirty grant recipients, community leaders, donors and board members gathered as the Foundation presented $19,130 in Community Response Grants to fifteen UlsterCounty nonprofit organizations.
The Community Foundation of Dutchess County recently held their 16th annual Garden Party. More than 350 friends and supporters gathered on the lawn at Blithewood Mansion at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson N and were treated to spectacular views and wonderful food. Guests were there to recognize two local couples: Dana and Ira Effron and Shirley and Bernard Handel for their community service. The event also noted the Fortieth Anniversary of the Community Foundation.
This fall, Michelle Penik, a teacher at Dover High School, will take 11th grade Environmental Science students to visit the Cary Institute for Ecosystems Studies and the Norrie Point Environmental Center, thanks to a $750 Field Trip Grant awarded by the Community Foundation of Dutchess County.
The Community Foundation of Dutchess County 16th Annual Garden Party will be held on Sunday, September 13 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This signature tented and catered event is presented to recognize local residents for their community service, while demonstrating the work of the Community Foundation in our area.
